Fun Fact:
In my free time, I love watching the Iowa State Cyclones football and basketball games; during these seasons, you will find me in Ames quite often!
My Approach
My approach is very laid-back and conversational. I value establishing safety and connection first, then working on the deeper things. I will meet you where you are - meaning I emphasize that you are the expert on your life, and I will go at your pace on what feels comfortable to you.
Who I work with
I enjoy working with young children and adults. I work with many young children who have experienced trauma and children who may be struggling with ADHD symptoms. When I work with children, I remain intentional of also partnering with parents and caregivers to fully support their child and their family as a whole. I enjoy working with adults who may be experiencing life transitions, who are navigating their own experience with ADHD, and women's issues - these include relationship stressors, work-life balance, and parenting, just to name a few.
How I work
My sessions tend to be flexible and informal. I do not assign homework or come with a set agenda. I let you decide what would be helpful for our time together. In my sessions, I tend to approach things with curiosity and a strength-based lens. When I work with clients, I encourage the both of us to drop any expectations of what therapy should "look" like, as it looks different for everybody. Some sessions may be verbal processing, while other sessions may sound quiet but is a time where co-regulation with another person (me as your therapist) is what is needed in that moment.
Getting Started
I accept a variety of insurance plans. I am passionate about mental health care accessibility and am willing to provide a sliding scale option as well. We can discuss this regarding affordability and what makes the most sense for you financially. I provide both in-person and telehealth and my hours are typically 10am-6pm Monday thorugh Thursday. I do offer a 15 minute consultation to see if we would be a good match. If you are interested in moving forward, you can send me an email or message me through my "Psychology Today" profile.
