My Approach

I believe that life is too valuable to be defined by emotional suffering or to watch those we care about struggle without hope for change. My goal as a therapist is to provide clients with practical, evidence-based tools and interventions that foster resilience, promote emotional well-being, and empower them to build meaningful, fulfilling lives.

My therapeutic approach is grounded in the belief that while we cannot always control the circumstances we encounter, we can develop the skills to effectively manage our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. I strive to create a collaborative, supportive, and nonjudgmental therapeutic environment where clients feel safe exploring challenges, identifying strengths, and working toward their personal goals.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy serves as the foundation of my clinical practice. I strongly believe in the effectiveness of DBT/CBT evidence-based principles to help individuals develop emotion regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and mindfulness skills. Through this approach, clients learn to recognize unhelpful patterns of thinking and behavior, respond to difficult emotions more effectively, and cultivate a life that is guided by their values rather than controlled by intense emotions or automatic thoughts.

I recognize that every client's experiences and needs are unique. Therefore, I tailor treatment to the individual, integrating additional evidence-based interventions when appropriate while maintaining a strengths-based, person-centered approach. My objective is to empower clients with sustainable skills that extend beyond the therapy room, enabling them to navigate life's challenges with increased confidence, flexibility, and psychological well-being. I am committed to using warm, collaborative, trauma informed, strengths based, compassionate and judgement free treatment.

Who I work with

I work with adolescents, adults, and families experiencing a wide range of emotional, behavioral, and interpersonal challenges. I particularly enjoy supporting individuals who are navigating anxiety, depression, mood disorders, trauma, life transitions, relationship concerns, emotional dysregulation, and stress related to work, school, or family responsibilities.

My practice is especially well suited for clients who feel overwhelmed by their emotions, traumatic experiences, experience difficulty managing distress, or find themselves repeating patterns that no longer serve them. I enjoy helping clients develop practical coping skills, increase emotional awareness, and build healthier ways of responding to life's challenges.

I welcome individuals from diverse backgrounds, identities, and lived experiences, and I strive to provide a culturally responsive, affirming, and nonjudgmental therapeutic environment where clients feel respected, understood, and supported. I believe therapy is a collaborative process, and I value working alongside clients as they identify their strengths, overcome obstacles, and create meaningful, lasting change.

Whether you are seeking support during a difficult season of life or working toward long-term personal growth, my goal is to help you develop the skills and confidence to live a life that is guided by your values rather than your circumstances or emotions.

How I work

I believe therapy works best when it is built on trust, authenticity, and collaboration. My sessions are warm, conversational, and client-centered, creating a space where individuals feel safe to be themselves without fear of judgment. While every session is tailored to the unique needs of the client, my goal is to help clients feel heard, understood, and empowered as they work toward meaningful change.

I use an integrative approach to therapy, drawing from evidence-based practices including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Solution-Focused Therapy, Strengths-Based Therapy, and Trauma-Informed Care. I help clients identify unhelpful thought patterns, build healthy coping skills, improve emotional regulation, strengthen communication, and develop practical strategies they can use outside of therapy.

Sessions often include open discussion, exploring emotions and experiences, identifying patterns, setting achievable goals, and learning practical tools to manage life's challenges. I believe in gently challenging clients when appropriate while also recognizing and celebrating their strengths and progress. Together, we work at a pace that feels comfortable, balancing support with accountability.

My background in correctional mental health, inpatient psychiatric care, and school social work has given me experience working with individuals facing trauma, anxiety, depression, behavioral concerns, crisis situations, life transitions, and relationship challenges. I strive to create an environment where clients feel respected, validated, and encouraged to build resilience, confidence, and lasting personal growth.
